SYSTEMS OPERATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT
Sanitary Survey: The Division of Drinking Water, (Negandra Dev) and the Salt Lake Valley Heath Department, (Emily Dickey & Liliana Benavidez), recently conducted the required, (every 3 years), sanitary survey. This is an extensive audit of our water system, to include Mid-Gad, the new system on Hidden Peak, Wasatch Drain Tunnel, Peruvian and Superior reservoirs. Mr. Hanson also inspected the Bay City Mine, Alta tank and Alta booster station with DDW and SLVHD. Once our sanitary survey report is received, Mr. Hanson will review this with the Board of Trustees. No significant issues were revealed during this water audit.
Sewer Work: Crews with Cottonwood Improvement District have been conducting maintenance on the sewer system using their tv and flushing equipment. They started work on the sewer system in Alta, and have completed work at Grizzly and are now at entry #1 continuing down the canyon. Mr. Hanson reviewed pictures via tv monitor of manholes 128/129, located on Chickadee. This is 10" ductile iron pipe and 30’ into the ground, which displays signs of corrosion and deposits on pipe and could possibly be infiltrating into the ground. Cottonwood crews will do further evaluation of this area measuring volume above the joint in pipe. Once video and test results are received, a determination will be made of necessary improvements to this area. Mr. Hanson reported the Alta sewer system with grease issues and a problem with sag in the line near the Rustler. As for our sewer system the Sugarplum and Superior point systems look good.
Meadows Pump Station: Brad Gwynupp, a pump specialist, met with Mr. Hanson to inspect the failed pump and motor at the Meadows pump station. It would be cost effective for us to either rebuild or replace the pump and motor versus switching to a 3 phase convertor. We will get a cost on rebuilding the old pump or purchasing a new one.
Grizzly Update: Engineers have surveyed, started drawings and contacted Tesla regarding power out of the Tesla wall pack. Grizzly resident, Roger Burke sent Mr. Hanson surveyed drawings of the area and the land is owned by Alta Ski Lifts and not the Schronz’s as originally thought. Onno Wieringa wants to see pictures of this project and also the impact ramifications. Mr. Hanson is doubtful this project will take place this year, as the engineering is lengthy and the building season is short.
Creekside: Mr. Hanson stated that the fiberglass sewage tank is in the Creekside parking lot and will be installed into a pre-cast concrete box. Contractors are making changes to the water system for the connections. This project is approximately 3 weeks behind construction, primarily due to problems with the mico-piles.
Hidden Peak: The water supply line that froze on the Peak will be addressed. Mr. Hanson is working with Andy Burton on getting a schedule for insulating the line and heat tracing it from the top terminal to tower 4 down to the Peruvian side.
Mr. Hanson reviewed with the Board of Trustees, the Balance Sheet Previous Year Comparison report beginning July 1st, through July 31st, 2016 and the Profit and Loss Budget vs. Actual beginning July 1st, 2016 through July 31st, 2016 as prepared by Salt Lake County Service Area #3.
APPROVAL OF BILLS PAID
Ms. Borgione moved that the bills listed on the July 20th, 2016 through August 16, 2016 payment registers, as presented by Mr. Hanson hereby be authorized and ratified to be paid by the manager. Mr. Collins seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Copies of the approved bills are attached to the minutes.
Other Business: Brian Keller and Kasey Carpenter will be attending the Rural Water Association of Utah fall conference and undergoing operator training.
There being no further business to be discussed, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and unanimously carried at 12:42 p:m.
